There is a New Version of TeslaCrypt Ransomware Rapidly Spreading

This new version of ransomeware is spread by unpatched WordPress websites.  These unpatched websites direct users to sites where they become infected with TeslaCrypt via ads.  The user does not have to click on any of the ads to become infected.  TeslaCrypt encrypts the user’s files, and then demands a ransom be paid before unencrypting.

To protect against getting TeslaCrypt, you should ensure that you are not running outdated versions of Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Reader, Microsoft Silverlight or Internet Explorer.

Additionally, it is vital to have a good backup and recovery solution, should one of your systems become infected.

There has only been been limited information released about TeslaCrypt.  We will continue to monitor the issue and keep you informed.
